These terms govern your use of SettleBetween. Review them before creating or joining a case, ordering a paid service or enrolling as a partner. If you do not agree, do not use those services. Simply receiving an invitation does not make you a participant or mean you accept a proposed settlement.
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter the relevant agreement. If acting for a business or another person, you must have authority to do so and accurately state your capacity. Availability depends on the locations, dispute categories and features supported for your case.
A price, allowance or service condition expressly agreed for a case continues to apply to that case. The referral program has additional terms available on the partner page. These service terms do not replace the terms of a settlement between participants.
Voluntary participation and the role of AI
SettleBetween provides private preparation, a shared discussion space, AI suggestions and tools to review and sign agreed terms. We are not a court, arbitrator, law firm or your legal representative. The AI is not a human mediator or lawyer. It may make factual or legal errors, overlook relevant information or suggest unsuitable terms.
You remain responsible for reviewing information and deciding whether to use a suggestion. Payment does not buy influence over the AI or guarantee a response, settlement, legal result or recovery of money.
Either participant may decline or leave the discussion. Silence is not admission, consent or agreement. Leaving SettleBetween does not itself cancel a signed agreement or remove obligations that already exist outside the service.
Suitability, deadlines and independent advice
Do not rely on SettleBetween for an emergency, immediate protection, formal service of legal documents or a procedure that must be handled by a court or qualified professional. Do not use it to pressure or threaten someone. If participation is unsafe or coerced, stop and seek appropriate help.
Starting a case does not pause court, limitation, payment, appeal or other external deadlines. Obtain independent legal, financial or other professional advice where needed, particularly before releasing claims or signing an agreement. Public guides are general information and may not address your jurisdiction or circumstances.
Accounts, access and invitations
Keep account details accurate, protect access to your email and account, and tell us about suspected misuse. Complete the verification required for the action you want to take. Email and invitation checks control access; they do not independently confirm every participant’s identity, legal capacity or business authority.
Review the recipient and exact invitation before approving delivery or sharing a link. Activation alone does not send an invitation. Do not send misleading, repeated or unwanted invitations or evade someone’s decision to decline. An invitation link should be treated as sensitive access information.
Agreement fees and card authorization
Every new case starts free, including repeat cases. There is no subscription or ongoing case fee. The invited participant joins, uses AI help, reviews and signs for free. The sender pays the displayed agreement fee only after both parties sign the same agreement version.
After both parties approve the same final agreement, the sender authorizes the agreement payment through Stripe before either party signs. The receiver signs first, followed by the sender. Authorization may place a temporary hold on the card. We collect the fee only after both signatures have been verified. If signing is not completed, an uncaptured authorization is cancelled or expires; your bank controls when a released hold disappears. An expired authorization may need to be renewed.
The price, currency, applicable taxes, included duration and usage limits shown for the case apply. Optional postal delivery is priced separately and requires its own approval. Previously accepted payment arrangements remain governed by their recorded terms, including any agreed credit for an earlier payment.
The service fee pays for the SettleBetween service. It is separate from any amount one participant promises to pay the other. We do not hold, transfer or guarantee settlement payments between participants.
Cancellation, billing problems and refunds
If both participants do not sign, no agreement fee is collected. You can leave an unsigned discussion without an agreement fee. Contact us if a card hold remains after cancellation or if a charge appears incorrect.
We will correct duplicate or incorrect charges and assess refunds where a paid service was not provided as promised. After both signatures, a later disagreement between participants, or one participant’s failure to perform the settlement, does not by itself entitle the sender to a refund of the service fee. Any more favorable refund conditions expressly agreed for your case still apply.
Submit a refund request in the case workspace or contact us with the case reference and payment date. Do not send full card details. We will review the payment and service records, explain the decision and arrange any refund due. Bank processing times can vary.
Nothing here excludes mandatory cancellation, withdrawal, refund or service-quality rights. Where local law requires a separate request to begin work during a cancellation period or an acknowledgment concerning withdrawal rights, these terms alone do not supply it.
Optional printed invitations
Before ordering, review the letter, sender’s return address, recipient address and full postal price. You must be entitled to use those addresses and send the invitation. The return address is visible on the letter and envelope. Address validation does not establish who lives at an address.
The postal fee is separate from the agreement fee and pays for preparing, printing and mailing the approved invitation. A confirmed failure before mailing is refunded. An uncertain submission is investigated before resending or refunding so a temporary provider error does not cause duplicate mail or charges.
Once printing starts, we cannot promise cancellation or recall. Ordinary mail does not guarantee delivery, a response, identity verification or legally valid service. Revoking the online invitation does not recall physical mail. Postal invitation links are prepared with at least 45 days of availability from letter preparation, unless revoked or access must be restricted for safety or misuse. Delivery estimates are estimates.
Your material, sharing and acceptable use
You retain your rights in material you submit. You give us permission to host, process, transmit and reproduce it only as needed to provide the service, carry out your sharing and delivery choices, maintain security and comply with applicable obligations. This includes processing by the service providers described in the privacy notice. It does not give us permission to sell your case material or publish it for advertising.
Provide information honestly, distinguish facts from assumptions, and share only material you are entitled to use. Do not impersonate someone, fabricate evidence, upload malicious software, seek unauthorized access, harass participants or use the service unlawfully. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information about yourself or others.
Review AI-generated text before submitting it as your statement or proposal. Deliberately shared material is available to the other participant and may already have been downloaded. Do not disclose another participant’s information for unrelated or unlawful purposes. No term prevents a lawful report, obtaining advice or complying with a legal requirement.
Approvals, signatures and settlement obligations
Both participants must approve the same agreement version before signing starts. A change requires renewed approval. A locked or signed version cannot be edited in place. If you later agree to different terms, use a separately reviewed and signed amendment or replacement as appropriate.
Review the full agreement, the identity and capacity of each signer, amounts, dates, obligations, release language and governing provisions before signing. Follow the signing provider’s disclosures and keep the completed document and audit record. A displayed test signature is not a production signature.
A settlement is between its participants. Its validity and enforceability depend on applicable law, subject matter, authority, consent and circumstances. SettleBetween does not guarantee enforceability, register an agreement with a court or automatically enforce it. Marking an obligation complete in the workspace is a participant update, not independent proof of performance.
Included access and keeping records
AI preparation, private adviser help and shared mediation have no per-case or daily AI request limit. Case duration, upload limits and protections against misuse still apply. Features can also depend on provider availability. Save important records before access ends and keep your own copy of a signed agreement.
Export tools provide the case records available to you, not the other participant’s private preparation. Contact us if you need help obtaining your records. Account closure or a deletion request does not automatically erase shared agreements, change another participant’s rights or cancel a payment obligation. The privacy notice explains how retention requests are assessed.
Service availability and suspension
We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or error-free AI or third-party systems. Contact us about a fault so we can investigate. A service interruption does not suspend an external deadline.
We may restrict an account, invitation or feature where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security, legal requirements or a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to respond. Immediate action may be needed to protect someone or comply with law.
If we discontinue a paid feature or cannot provide an agreed service, we will address access to records and any refund or other remedy due. Suspension does not remove mandatory consumer rights or automatically extinguish a participant’s entitlement to their records.
Responsibility and rights that cannot be excluded
You are responsible for your submissions, sharing choices, instructions and commitments to the other participant. We are responsible for providing our service in accordance with these terms and applicable law. We do not assume a participant’s settlement obligations or guarantee the conduct of another person.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct or any mandatory consumer protection. Available remedies and responsibility for loss are determined under applicable law. The descriptions of AI and service limitations do not take away those rights.
Changes, questions and disputes with us
We show the revision date at the top of these terms. Material changes affecting an existing account will be communicated through an appropriate account notice or email. New terms will not retroactively change an agreed case price, a completed transaction or a signed settlement. Where agreement to a change is legally required, we will request it.
If something is wrong, contact us with a clear description and the relevant case or payment reference. You can also report misuse or request a refund in the workspace. We will review the issue and explain our response. You remain free to use competent courts, regulators and any dispute process available under applicable law. These terms do not require private arbitration or waive collective remedies that the law protects.
